Hybrid Learning with Microsoft Education

Enabling better learning outcomes

The pandemic created many challenges for everyone. Yet, technology played a role in helping organizations overcome obstacles and find new opportunities for growth. And educational institutions were at the forefront of this transformation. With the rapid shift to remote and hybrid learning, our understanding of how and where students learn, and teachers teach best—along with the role of collaboration and engagement in creating successful learning outcomes—has evolved.

As more schools reopen, questions remain. Should schools go back to the way they were? How can we help students achieve better learning outcomes, regardless of where they learn? And how can schools use technology to transform education and improve the experiences of students, educators, and administrators?

With new federal investments in educational technology, you can help your education customers make this transformation a reality. Using Windows 10 and 11 devices and tools such as Microsoft Teams and OneNote, schools can empower students to access technology wherever they are—in the classroom, at home, or anywhere in between. And they can give teachers powerful tools to increase collaboration and personalize lessons to be accessible to all students.

Learning in the classroom

Even after students have fully returned to the classroom (and everyone breathes a collective sigh of relief!), schools must embrace the strides they’ve achieved through remote learning. The bottom line is simple. One-to-one access to Windows devices, which include advanced digital tools like Teams and OneNote, enhance student learning and engagement, even when learning in the classroom. Here are some examples of how technology helps schools:

  • With OneNote, students can take notes as well as organize, share, and manage work using Class Notebook.

  • With Education Insights in Teams, teachers can see how students are engaging and track where they are having difficulty.

  • With PowerPoint, students can see translations privately in up to 15 languages to make learning more accessible.

  • Using OneNote and Teams, teachers can manage assignments, grades, classes, and student insights.

  • And with School Data Sync Microsoft Education solutions connect seamlessly with schools’ learning management systems, offer expanded integrations with Blackboard and Canvas, and offer access to rich, dynamic class content, such as coding and STEM-focused lessons with Minecraft: Education Edition or FluidMath.

Learning from home

Students’ ability to collaborate from home, engage in remote study groups, or even do homework online has been out of reach for many families with limited income. Now, with 1 to 1 learning environments, schools can empower all students to learn from anywhere and can help them overcome connectivity issues.

For example, using Microsoft 365 (A3 or A5) and affordable Windows devices, students can access installed applications that work online, offline, or with limited or shared connectivity. So, even when they need to learn from home, students can still participate in learning, can engage with their classrooms in Teams, and can even see other students in Together Mode.

Learning everywhere in between

Ask any student today their device of choice and the answer is resounding. It’s their phone. Although laptops can travel almost anywhere, students always carry their phones. That’s why it’s critical that Microsoft Education products are available on both iOS and Android phones, as well as personal or shared computers through web apps.

So, whether students need secure access to a Teams group, want to check an upcoming assignment, or need to just complete their homework—they can do it from anywhere, on any device. Even when on the go, students can access the tools they prefer, whether they’re on a school trip or on a bus home. And they’ll use the same tools they’re familiar with when they enter the workforce as well.
